Since 2009, BlackMilk Clothing has served as the alternative fashion destination for those who want to be a little different, and the business continues to evolve to keep up with the market.

From galaxy leggings to stand-out office wear, BlackMilk has stood the test of time, from the peak of Y2K fashion to 2023 with the launch of a licensed collection for the brand.

Spearheaded by founder, James Lillis, who has transformed BlackMilk Clothing from his kitchen table in Brisbane, QLD, into a household name worldwide, the brand has become known for its innovative and playful licensed creations, becoming one of the biggest global fashion names in the licensing space.

“We have been working on securing this collection for four years. We have worked extremely hard to be known as global pioneers in the licensed clothing space, as I knew how well-received it would be by BlackMilk fans which I think got this collaboration over the line.”

BlackMilk introduces a new collection every two weeks for dedicated BlackMilk fans with their pieces have been worn globally by the likes of Katy Perry, Lana Del Ray, and The Veronicas.

“While my role in the brand has changed over the years, I am still heavily involved in each collection’s creative direction, themes, and showpieces. What began as a simple new hobby has turned into such a passion, and I feel lucky to still be able to have a strong role in the development and design of our collections,” Lillis said.

The BlackMilk team is now made up of over 140 team members and in the last five years have designed and produced over one million garments.

“The focus is always on making epic collections, and we will also continue to focus on how we can understand our customer journey better and develop ways we can better support sustainability moving forward.”
