JB Hi-Fi has joined the retailer bandwagon offering MasterCard PayPass at its stores in the lead up to Christmas.

The technology and entertainment retailer has collaborated with MasterCard to offer the contactless card and payment method to avoid the lengthy queues this December.

It allows customers making purchases of less than $100 to securely tap their cards against the MasterCard terminal at checkout.

“As you’d expect, JB Hi-Fi experiences huge increases in customers around Christmas. So with Christmas fast approaching, we are very pleased that our customers will be able to experience a much faster and more convenient payment system during the holiday rush,” Terry Smart, JB Hi-Fi CEO, said.

There are currently at least four million MasterCard PayPass cardholders in Australia.

Country manager for MasterCard in Australia, Andrew Cartwright, said MasterCard PayPass speeds up transactions at the checkout.

“MasterCard PayPass means Australians can shop safely, queue less and experience the convenience of cashless transactions,” he said.
