Lenovo has unveiled its first dual-core notebook computer, a widescreen, easy-to-use system designed for small business customers with a limited IT budget.

The Lenovo 3000 N100 simplifies owning and operating a PC by automating many routine security and maintenance tasks though a unique suite of productivity tools. Lenovo Care tools help alleviate the need for a dedicated IT help desk by offering a central location for essential PC tasks such as a one-button system recovery to help users diagnose, get help, and recover systems to a previously saved state following catastrophic software failures caused by today’s viruses and malware; automatic updates that download and install critical updates for Lenovo software on a user-configured schedule to help keep the system operating at peak performance and easy connectivity for simple wired or wireless set up for home office, office and leisure connections.

Weighing 2.5kgs the new N100 comes in 14.1-inch and 15.4-inch widescreen models, allowing for 20 percent more viewing space in spreadsheet applications or watching DVDs in the optimised format.

The N100 is available with an Intel Core Duo or Solo processor that efficiently runs multiple programs simultaneously, such as business applications while conducting virus scans in the background. The N100 also offers complete connectivity features such as integrated 802.11 a/b/g wireless LAN(4) and 10/100 Ethernet on all models, and Bluetooth on select models.

With a host of multimedia capabilities, such as forward facing stereo speakers, an integrated microphone for playing and recording audio, and an integrated combo or DVD recordable drive, the N100 is well suited for the growing segment of small business users who rely on the same computer for both business and personal use.

The N100 also incorporates a 4-in-1 multi-card reader for downloading digital pictures from multiple types of memory cards, four USB ports, 1394 and S-Video ports. An integrated web cam for business and personal communications and an integrated fingerprint reader for easier management of passwords are available as optional features.
