Adyen, the global payments technology company, today announced the launch of its payments solution in Australia.

With Adyen, retailers can accept payments in store, on mobile, and online with one partner, one contract, one technical interface, and unified reporting. Instead of working with a number of suppliers and third party connections, Adyen simplifies payments for merchants and enables them to offer a seamless cross channel experience to their customers.

The Adyen payments platform has been built from the ground up with the latest technology, and connects directly to card schemes including Visa and MasterCard and over 250 different payments methods worldwide, resulting in extended coverage, stability and scalability for businesses. Adyen handles payments for some of the world’s largest technology companies, including Facebook, Uber, and Spotify.

“We’re excited to open our office in Sydney,” said Warren Hayashi, President, Asia Pacific at Adyen. “Australia has a dynamic retail environment, and we see enormous potential to enable e-commerce and omni-channel businesses in the market. Using the rich data created through Adyen’s payments platform, merchants can deepen their understanding of cross-channel customer behaviour, and grow their revenue accordingly.”

“Australia has one of the highest rates of smartphone adoption in the world. We see an enormous opportunity to enable merchants to offer a seamless mobile payment experience to their customers whether in-app, on the mobile web, or in-store, particularly as new payment methods such as Apple Pay are poised to launch in the market,” said Roelant Prins, Chief Commercial Officer, Adyen.

Adyen will serve its clients from a new office in Sydney. In December 2014, Adyen announced a funding round of $250 million, and recently announced a new funding round from Iconiq Capital that values the business at US$2.3 billion.
