David Jones has partnered with UK-based PCMS to deliver a new POS system.

PCMS, which has worked with Marks & Spencer and John Lewis, will implement the POS system for pilot from the middle of 2012.

The $80 million investment is expected to see faster transaction processing time as there are 50 per cent fewer key strokes on standard transactions as well as reduce power consumption by 30 per cent. It will also enable ‘tap & go’ eftpos transactions and see the introduction of gift receipts.

"Our new POS system will also enable us to access inventory information and to provide multi-channel capability,” Paul Zahra, David Jones CEO, said.
