Coles is trialling a Coles MasterCard mobile wallet that will enable a sample group of customers to access and pay with their credit card and earn flybuys points using their smartphone.

In partnership with GE Capital Australia, Vodafone, MasterCard and Gemalto, Coles MasterCard cardholders will be able to use their smartphone to make contactless payments instead of using their physical card.

The mobile wallet will be accessed via a downloadable smartphone app, which enables users to easily manage their digital wallet and link to their flybuys account to earn points faster.

Coles general manager of financial services, Richard Wormald, said: “The
latest trial of the new Coles MasterCard Mobile Wallet is another great example of Coles embracing the latest payment technology, as we work towards making the shopping experience more convenient and rewarding for Coles MasterCard customers.”

This trial will assess the user friendliness of the technology, its capacity to increase the speed of transaction, save customers time in store and seamless integration of flybuys points to add even more value to the Coles customer experience.

The trial will involve approximately 60 participants.
