Woolworths has quietly leaped into competition with likes of DealsDirect, Scoopon and CatchoftheDay, launching its very own daily deal website, Door Buster.

The site sells products from food, liquor, health & beauty to consumer such as flatscreen televisions, cameras and tablets for a limited period.

Clare Buchanan, Woolworths spokesperson, told RetailBiz as Woolworths is a leading retailer it needs to be exploring new ways of retail.

“Customers have a huge appetite for a bargain and these types of sites are growing in number and growing in popularity,” she said.

The site runs as a separate business within Woolworths where it sources small quantities of products that are either end of line, clearance or special spot buys that have been picked up from a supplier.

“Our stock is already in our possession in our warehouse so we are not selling the promise of a product. We also ship the next day,” Buchanan said.

While product range remains limited for the meantime, Buchanan reassures that more products will be added in the coming weeks and months.
