Office products company Staples Australia has launched a website, staples.com.au, targeted specifically to small businesses.

Richard Haigh, head of staples.com.au, told Retailbiz that after undertaking extensive research with the Australian small business community, Staples aims to focus on offering customers a superior online experience.

“Our research helped identify what’s important to small businesses in Australia. We believe that there are a number of little things we can do to provide value to our customers – irrespective of what’s happening in the broader economy, and we’re committed to providing this value to customers,” he said.

“From our perspective, the key to success is providing lots of little things, such as offering fast and free next day delivery and an easy-to-use website. It’s the little things like these we’re concentrating on and we believe that they will attract customers.”

Initially the website will service customers in NSW and ACT, with plans to roll out to customers across Australia.

“We wanted to apply our model to these markets first and we need to learn from our customers in order to be able to deliver what they need before we can ultimately expand and offer the service to the rest of Australia,” Haigh said.
