Consumer demand for PayPal is on the rise with 22 per cent of Australian online shoppers calling PayPal their preferred online payment method, according to Nielsen//Netratings.

Over 60 Australian retailers offer PayPal as a payment option, including Big W, EzyDVD, Sanity, OO, eBay, Trading Post, Rebel Sport, and Roses Only. Charities such as the Breast Cancer Foundation and WWF Australia also use PayPal as a payment option for online donations. More than 40 large brand merchants have signed up with PayPal since January 2007.

“We’re delighted to welcome even more merchants to the PayPal network,” says Andrew Pipolo, managing director, PayPal Australia.

“PayPal is committed to providing greater facilities for smoother, faster, and more secure transactions that benefit both merchants and their customers.”

Online newspaper and magazine reseller iSubscribe has more than 100,000 active subscribers in Australia and receives nearly all of its orders through its website. According to managing director Hunter Drinan, choosing PayPal makes good business sense.

“Our customers were already requesting PayPal through our feedback channels, and we saw that it was fast becoming a preferred payment option online, so it wasn’t a difficult decision”, says Hunter Drinan.
