A family brand built on two decades of expertise redefining children’s sleep, teddy has launched in Australia with a mattress that combines cutting-edge technology with traditional craftsmanship to deliver comfort and support for children’s changing spinal needs.

teddy’s launch into the local market coincides with the release of YouGov research which reveals that over half (56%) of Australian children complain about the mattress they sleep on and nearly nine in 10 (87%) parents state the support a mattress offers their child’s spine is a key consideration when making a purchase.

However, only one in five Australian parents (22%) have a good understanding of the recommended firmness of their child’s mattress to support spine growth, and one in four (24%) admit they’ve purchased their child’s mattress without knowing if the support it offered was appropriate for their spine development.

The teddy jr. Lux Mattress meticulously considers developmental patterns and has been tailored to improve the overall quality of sleep for a child. The mattress introduces a dual-sided approach with each side strategically recommended for distinct age groups – the first, appropriate for children aged two to four, is a firm, high-density foam that uses a five-zone design and airflow foam technology. The second, appropriate for children aged five to 18, is a softer, high-density foam that is made of Bamboo Charcoal infused Memory Foam.

teddy Australia founder, Daniel Hoffmann said, “As a parent, I understand how difficult it can be to navigate the selection of the right mattress for your child that meets their specific needs. That’s why we designed teddy – to make the process simple and to give parents a clear choice that they can trust and that they know will help their child get a good night’s sleep.

“Drawing on our own experiences as parents, we also considered other design features which help address factors separate to comfort when it comes to sleeping through the night or getting back to bed after an accident.”

Another contributor to a broken night’s sleep for the kids (and the parents) is bed wetting. That’s why the outer cover of each teddy mattress is removable, machine washable and contains a special non-slip fabric. Underneath this outer cover is a convenient waterproof inner cover to help protect from bedwetting and other accidents.

Each mattress is made from recycled plastic from the ocean, up-cycled steel, ethically sourced timber and the foams and fabrics used are also certified as non-toxic.

The teddy Junior Lux Mattress can be ordered online with RRPs ranging from $559 for a single, $649 for a king single and $699 for a double. With free delivery Australia wide, each mattress arrives direct-to-door and comes with a 120-night trial period and 10-year warranty.

The package box can convert into a cardboard sailboat and each order receives a personalised copy of Dream Walker, a tale about a child’s pre-sleep imaginative journey of discovery and fantasy.
