Global online fashion retailer Asos has come out on top reporting total retail sales up 40 per cent to £753.8 million (approximately AUD$1.2 billion) for the year ending 31 August 2013.

The company’s Q4 total retail sales results alone presented a 47 per cent uplift to £207.9m (approximately $353.1 million).

Retail sales growth in Q4 was strong in both the UK at +49 per cent and internationally at +47 per cent.

According to company CEO Nick Robertson international growth is driven by the countries in which they have dedicated websites and in-country teams.

“We expect profit before tax for the year ended 31 August 2013 to be marginally above expectations,” he said.

Asos launched a dedicated Australian site in September 2011 and since then the Australian site has grown to be the company’s second largest territory after the UK. In May 2012, Asos opened a dedicated Australian office Sydney, which is responsible for local marketing and social media interaction.

The company plans to launch a Chinese site in October 2013.

Robertson said the company remains on target to achieve its goal of reaching worldwide sales of £1 billion by 2015.
