As greater Sydney continues to face lockdown restrictions, eBay has revealed which postcodes have been shopping the most since June and what they have been buying online.

NSW appears to be a state of avid collectors with those living in Wyong and Tuggerah (postcode 2259) on the Central Coast purchasing collectible TY Beanie Babies, which have become one of the top purchased items since late June.

Customers from Sydney CBD (postcode 2000), Liverpool and Chipping Norton (postcode 2170) are adding to their watch collections with watches one of the top-purchased items.

Greater western Sydney including Campbelltown and Blacktown have been investing in car parts, while people from Kellyville, Rouse Hill, Wentworthville and Westmead have continued to purchase work from home equipment led by laptops and monitors.

Sydney’s CBD incorporating Barangaroo and The Rocks has seen residents opt for video game consoles to keep them entertained.

eBay Australia’s Sophie Onikul said Australians are once again flocking to eBay’s 40,000 local retailers for everything from necessities to boredom busters.

“Similar to trends seen during other lockdowns, shoppers across Sydney are updating WFH setups and revisiting much-loved hobbies like restoring cars as they make the most of the additional downtime. But this time we’re also seeing a rise in collectors with Beanie Babies in high demand and others counting down the time with new watches.”
