Comvita New Zealand, the world’s trusted market leader in Manuka honey, has debuted its new experiential store, powered by commerce software company, commercetools.
Coinciding with the Comvita physical store front opening, the company used commercetools’ APIs to create a headless checkout experience for its new virtual store, along with a cloud native, completely integrated Point of Sale (POS) solution, all within six weeks.
While the speed to market was crucial for Comvita’s new virtual store, it also needed a bespoke online presence that could address its unique transactional requirements while presenting a seamless consumer journey across online and physical stores.
Explaining the decision to collaborate with commercetools, Comvita New Zealand head of marketing, David Bathgate said, “From our co-op roots to our now world famous UMF certified Manuka honey, our heritage and brand are of the utmost importance to us. So when we explored how to handle transactions for our new virtual store, a one-size fits all approach wasn’t an option – even though we were up against a tight deadline.
“As we’d already completed some proof of concept work with commercetools, we could take advantage of that to build a working solution specific to our unique needs in just weeks. The flexibility of the solution, deepest POS integration and very fast implementation and rollout capabilities meant we were able to meet our deadline with a solution we could be truly proud of.”
Commercetools territory director for Asia Pacific, Joshua Emblin added: “Our toolkit is perfectly suited for easily and quickly integrating headless commerce, and speed was particularly important in order for Comvita to meet the growing global demand for its honey.
“At the same time, to maintain a sharp competitive edge brands are looking for more than generic, off-the-shelf commerce solutions, in favour of composable commerce that provides the flexibility to orchestrate a completely unique online brand experience that’s specific to their business.”
