South Australians can now shop at a range of city businesses from a single website and receive their items the next day with the launch of byADL, Australia’s first citywide digital marketplace.

byADL.com.au, delivered by the Adelaide Economic Development Agency through the City of Adelaide, brings together more than 60 city retailers with more than 2,000 items for sale on the website. Shoppers receive next-day delivery within 50km of the city.

French Laundry, Jam Factory, LOC Bottle Shop, Nowa The Label, Rundle General Store and Miss Gladys Sym Choon are among the retailers selling on the digital marketplace, spanning categories such as fashion, health and beauty, jewellery, homewares, toys and food and beverage.

Most digital marketplace platforms charge commission fees of up to 30%. In comparison, byADL’s fees are 5% to help fund ongoing maintenance and technical support for sellers. It integrates with Shopify so retailers who already sell products online can access an additional sales channel and benefit from byADL marketing campaign activities.

“From the city to your door, byADL will provide convenient 24/7 shopping with next day delivery,” Adelaide Economic Development Agency managing director, Ian Hill said.

“We recognise that shoppers can’t always make it in-store and trends show shoppers are buying online up to once per week so byADL takes city retailers to them and offers Adelaide’s next biggest shopping destination on their mobile phone or computer. This is a game changer.

“byADL is Australia’s first citywide digital marketplace, bringing together stores from one geographic area – the CBD and North Adelaide – offering thousands of their products on sale. Not only is shopping on byADL convenient for consumers but it supports the local economy and reduces delivery miles, as all sales are fulfilled from city businesses.”

The Adelaide Economic Development Agency has partnered with South Australian-owned and operated businesses Arcadier and The Courier App to facilitate the technology and logistics to develop and operate byADL.
