Spanish clothing giant Zara has unveiled its new eco-store model at the launch of its latest Australian store in Melbourne.

The stores will use 30 per cent less energy and seventy per cent less water than normal Zara outlets, with the concept soon to be rolled out internationally.

The announcement comes as the brand’s ex-corporate social responsibility manager Javier Chercoles visits Australia for the Retail World Conference this week (27-29 June).

Part of the company for 10 years, Chercoles will document his experience of seeing the introduction of corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Also speaking at the Mainstream Sustainability event are Alexie O’Brien from Lululemon Athletica, Turlough Guerin from Telstra’s environment team and Armineh Mardirossian from FMCG giant Woolworths.
