After 20 years with the company, David White has announced his resignation from the board of Wesfarmers as non-executive director.
The resignation will take effect at the conclusion of the company’s annual general meeting in Perth on 9 November.
White has been chairman of Wesfarmers’ Audit committee and member of the Nomination committee and is the longest serving of the current directors.
Wesfarmers chairman Bob Every said in a statement that White had been an outstanding contributor to the board for many years and his common sense, pragmatism, experience and humour will be greatly missed.
“David’s contribution to the company over two decades has been significant and I sincerely thank him for his tremendous service,” Every said.
“He has seen Wesfarmers grow from a relatively small company with its operations very much West Australian-based, to be one of the nation’s biggest companies with 200,000 employees across Australia and New Zealand. It’s been a time of remarkable change.”
Wesfarmers told Retailbiz that it was unable to provide any further comment at the time reporting.
