TopShop’s third Australian store will be opened early next year at Highpoint Shopping Centre.

The confirmation was announced by the GPT Group’s 2012 mid-year results presentation.

The expected 1,600 square metre will be the first to be located in a shopping centre. Its first Australian store was opened late last year along Melbourne’s Chapel Street with a second store expected to be opening in Sydney’s Gowing building in October.

Matthew Faddy, GPT Group head of asset management, said the store will join the centre’s stable of fashion retailers and will help maintain its reputation of being the first to deliver big name brands to Melbourne’s western suburbs.

“Topshop’s ability to deliver new, designer-inspired looks to shelves within weeks of making their catwalk debut is something that will certainly strike a chord with our customers,” he said.

“We look forward to welcoming TopShop to the centre in early 2013, alongside David Jones and over 80 additional speciality retailers.”

The construction of Highpoint’s new fashion mall is due to open in early 2013. The fashion precinct will host a 14,000 square metre two-level David Jones store, the first to Melbourne’s west, and approximately 80 new retailers including Australian and international designer fashion, homewares and lifestyle stores.

Stage one of the $300 million development is scheduled to open in October this year and will include a new Woolworths, Fresh Food Market and new mall featuring approximately 20 retailers.

“Upon completion Highpoint will be home to more than 520 retailers,” Faddy said.
