Forget burgers, fried chooks and pizzas… Aussie healthy fast-food brand, SumoSalad, has just been announced as the number one food retailer in a poll about the country’s ‘fastest franchises,’ released this month by BRW magazine.

In addition to being the highest ranking food retailer on the list, SumoSalad was also recorded as the second fastest growing franchise by outlet numbers and third fastest growing franchise by revenue – proving that this cheeky health brand is definitely one to watch.

“We knew that SumoSalad was growing fast, however to be featured so high on such a well-renowned list as the BRW Fast Franchises poll, is a great testament to us that the brand is progressing as well as we had hoped,” says SumoSalad co-director, Luke Baylis.

A strong growth rate both in Australia and more recently overseas, along with a great product offering, affordable entry costs and other franchisee benefits (such as a higher return on investment and buying into the lucrative health industry), make SumoSalad a preferred choice as franchise for many small business owners.

Founded in 2003 by two young Aussies, Luke Baylis and James Miller, the brand has come a long way since its first store in Sydney.

“SumoSalad’s fifth birthday is coming up this year, and while we acknowledge how far we’ve come, we’re now more determined than ever to continue expanding and building the brand, to ensure more people across the globe have access to our nutritional, delicious and convenient food offering,” says Baylis.

“With the Australian Bureau of Statistics recently reporting that more than half of Australian adults are not only overweight, but continuing to get fatter, we hope that more people will switch to our philosophy of healthy eating and overall wellbeing,” he continues.

SumoSalad currently has 45 outlets across Australia, in addition to several stores in the UK and Dubai. This year also sees the introduction of SumoSalad into New Zealand.
