Following the news that Starbucks will close 61 of its restaurant outlets in Australia, McDonald’s Australia is offering Starbucks staff the opportunity for re-employment at McDonald’s, whether in the McDonald’s restaurant or behind the counters of McCafés.

The fast food chain claims the existing skill-set of many Starbucks employees make them eligible candidates for a role with McDonald’s.

With 764 restaurants Australia-wide, McDonald’s Australia employs approximately 75,000 people and creates almost 6000 new jobs each year. It invests $40 million in training and development each year and is one of the largest coffee providers in the country, with 488 McCafé counters, serving 50 million cups of coffee annually.
