Salvos stores have seen an eight per cent upsurge in sales over the last 12 months in NSW and ACT.

Due to this increase in demand, the Salvos have recently opened, expanded and revamped stores in Fyshwick and Weston in the ACT and Albion Park and Westfield, Warrawong in the Illawarra. A revamped and expanded store will soon be opened at Minchinbury in Western Sydney on 19 July.

“People from a diverse range of socioeconomic backgrounds now shop at Salvos stores,” general manager of Salvos stores Neville Barrett said. “With rising energy and food prices impacting the community, particularly our senior citizens we have seen an upsurge in people shopping at our stores.

“To meet this increased demand we are now offering an even wider range of bargain priced items for sale including essential new household items such as bathroom and cleaning products, which are becoming increasingly popular with our customers.

"All profits from Salvos stores go towards running Salvation Army programs, which assist the less fortunate. By shopping at and donating to Salvos Stores our customers and donors are also helping the environment by recycling. We continue to work closely with government at all levels in developing sustainability programs which help reduce landfill,” he adds.
