In preparation for Christmas, retailers headed over to this year’s Reed Gift Fairs in Sydney to get an insight into the hottest gifts that will be filling stockings this December.

The fair, held from September 11 to 14 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour, provided retailers access to more than 500 suppliers that showcased products across all ranges including gift, homewares, kitchen, junior, outdoor, jewellery and fashion.

Omer Soker, exhibition director, said: “The fair’s timed well allowing retailers to top-up on orders and ensure their stores are well stocked for Christmas trading. For local buyers that missed the Melbourne August event, this was an impressive showcase of businesses all under one roof.”

Highlights for the event included over 100 new suppliers, a free business development program to help retailers and networking opportunities for retailers.

“We’re pleased to offer coaching and business development seminars that help retailers gain expert advice on how to be more innovative in positioning their retail business ahead of Christmas trading,” Soker said.

For the first time the fair featured a dedicated area for locally made products, along with a new outdoor category and a small gourmet section.

“The areas were designed to assist new, entrepreneurial suppliers, giving them the opportunity to grow their business,” Soker said.

Reed Gift Fairs will host its next fair at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 29 January to 1 February 2011.
