Retail destination The Queen Victoria Building (QVB) has been recognised with an Honouree Award at the VIVA Best of the Best Awards held in Las Vegas earlier this month.

The historic site was nominated in the design and development category at the event, which is an initiative of the International Council of Shopping Centres (ISIC).

It has previously won a gold medal for its 2009 refurbishment and was automatically entered in this year’s awards.

Victor Gaspar, general manager of Ipoh Group which owns the QVB says the award shows their work to revamp the centre has paid off.

“Having worked closely with the City of Sydney to restore this glorious, monumental building, we are thrilled to be acknowledged by the ISIC for our efforts,” he says.

“The QVB has been refurbished due to growing commercial need, but we have taken great care to maintain the building’s historical structure. The building has been given a bright new colour scheme, superior amenities, lighting and escalators, providing improved access to the upper levels.”
