Brisbane gourmet pizza franchise Pizza Capers recently took out the Rising Star Award at Queensland Business Review’s Q400 Awards.

Pizza Capers co-owner Scott Geiszler said the award acknowledged the immense growth rate of the business which moved from the 332nd spot on the Q400 list in 2006 to number 97 this year.

“It is fantastic to know we are one Queensland’s largest businesses, it is what we strive to achieve and it’s great to be recognised for all our hard work,” he said.

“We achieved a growth rate of 54 percent in turnover in the 07/08 financial year thanks to the strength of our brand and the hard work of franchisees.

“The pizza industry is extremely competitive and this award is a clear indicator of the successful franchising model we have in place and the demand for our good quality, gourmet pizzas, pastas and salads.”

The Rising Star Award has capped off a successful year for the company which was ranked 16th fastest-growing franchise by revenue in BRW’s Fast Franchises 2008, fourth in the SmartCompany Awards 2008 and 73rd in BRW’s Fast 100 2008.

Geiszler said Pizza Capers was aiming to capture a larger slice of the Australian pizza market with plans to expand along the east coast of Australia.

“Our growth strategy over the next year will be to aggressively expand into new markets in New South Wales and Victoria. There are plenty of opportunities to expand in Australia and we plan to operate a network of 49 stores by the end of the year.

“We want to cater to a wide range of customers and we will concentrate on introducing new menu items and providing innovative ideas as well as continuing to provide excellent service levels.”
