In efforts to provide NSW retailers with direct access to industry specific advice and assistance, the National Retail Association (NRA) has appointed Michael Lonie as its NSW state director and revealed its new Sydney office location.
The National Retail Association (NRA) is Australia’s largest and most representative retail organisation with over 3000 members and affiliates located across all Australian states and territories.
Gary Black, NRA executive director, commented on Lonie’s appointment and his extensive experience in the retail environment.
“Michael is widely known across the retail sector in NSW and has been a respected and highly credible advocate for the NSW retail industry for many years,” he said.
“Michael was formerly employed by the Australian Retailers Association which it is understood is in the process of downsizing its NSW operations and has already outsourced its employment law service.”
With this appointment, the NRA is now the only mainstream retail employer association that provides an Australia-wide in-house and retail specific employer law service.
“NRA believes that it is vital that NSW retailers be able to directly access industry specific advice and assistance,” Black said.
“Additionally, in a time when the regulatory environment is rapidly changing, retailers want to be assured that that experienced and professional representations are being made on their behalf to government agencies and Ministers. NRA and Michael Lonie will make sure this happens.”
In addition to its offices in Brisbane and Melbourne, the NRA will now also service retailers from its new NSW office in Alfred Street, Milsons Point.
