The National Retail Association (NRA) has appointed Trevor Evans as the new executive director.
Evans will replace former chief executive Gary Black, who has been appointed as a Commissioner of the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC) after close to a decade with the NRA.
Evans said he felt privileged to be appointed Executive Director of NRA and looked forward to building on the NRA’s strong success in providing professional member services and effective advocacy for retailers.
“My first task is to ensure I am well acquainted with the views of members and that there is effective alignment between the deployment of NRA resources and the aspirations of its members,” he said.
Evans is an economist and lawyer with a strong background in regulation, compliance and advocacy. He has previously worked for the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and as a tax policy advisor and has considerable experience in government relations.
He also has a deep understanding of the retail industry, coming from a family of four generations of shopkeepers. He holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons).
