National Online Retailers Association (NORA) together with Reed Exhibitions will be hosting a ‘Camp David’ style leaders’ summit to give C-level retail executives the opportunity to come together and share thought leadership.

The one and half day event, which will take place at the Palazzo Versace Hotel on Gold Coast from 14 to 15 October 2013, will see top tier executives from pillars of new retail, including supply chain, technology and payments, gather to openly discuss topics affecting new retail. Some select representation from government and other retail organisations, which have a vested interest in the wellbeing of Australian retail, will also be represented.

Topics already on the agenda include the lower value threshold, globalisation, the disconnect between education and skills required for new retail and logistics and supply chain.

“It’s somewhat altruistic but both NORA and the board are committed to the future wellbeing of retail,” said NORA CEO Paul Greenberg.

“I’m an advocate of new retail and the retail renaissance. I’m also very bullish and optimistic that as an ecosystem, we need to come together as retailers and it doesn’t matter anymore if it’s online or offline at the end we’re all retailers.

“So this summit is about pulling together retail leaders – big and small – and focusing on the challenges and opportunities that retail currently faces. We don’t expect a complete alignment but is a five sided conversation we have to have.”

According to Greenberg, it’ll be a media-free, pitch-free, confidential, respectful and open event.

Attendance to the summit is free of charge with all meals included, but attendees are responsible for their own flights and accommodation. For more information or RSVP to Shannon@nora.org.au
