Retail Decisions (ReD), the payment card issuer and a world leader in card fraud prevention and payment processing has appointed Sue Hando as managing director of ReD Prepaid Cards (Australia), a solution provider for prepaid cards in the Australian market.

Hando will be responsible for the overall operation of the division including strategy, business development, sales and service delivery and will report directly to ReD’s chief executive, Carl Clump.

ReD’s prepaid operation includes gift cards, online gift vouchers, refund cards, insurance claim cards, prepaid fuel cards, payroll and staff cards, as well as customer loyalty programs.

In Australia, ReD also operates the online gift voucher/card service, www.giftvouchers.com, as well as Australia’s leading multi-branded fuel cards – Motorpass and Motorcharge.

With a career that spans more than 15 years, Hando joins ReD from Australia’s largest general insurer, Insurance Australia Group. As head of customer strategy and management, she successfully improved the company’s retail customer proposition and customer service delivery.

Prior to that, she held numerous senior management positions with Westpac and Qantas.  At Qantas, where she worked for 10 years, Hando was general manager of Frequent Flyer and Qantas Club programs. In this role, she successfully launched the Qantas Telstra Visa card, the first co-branded card introduced in Australia.

“I am delighted to be joining ReD and look forward to continuing to provide great solutions for our customers through our range of prepaid cards,” says Hando.

“The year on year growth we are seeing in the prepaid card sector is fuelled by consumers choosing gift cards as the gift of choice for key events and holiday periods.”

"We’re pleased to have Sue onboard to lead our Australian prepaid card division. Sue is a seasoned, client facing professional. She is experienced in developing customer insight strategies that drive results for her clients. Sue’s knowledge, expertise and energy is what we need to take our, already market leading prepaid division, to new heights,” says Clump.

“The prepaid card market is one of the fastest growing in the payments space and ReD saw a 25 per cent rise in the number of cards issued from the previous year. This is a key market for us with strong growth prospects,” he adds.

ReD’s list of blue chip prepaid card clients include Woolworths, Coles Group, Myer, Danks Group, Dymocks, Mitre 10, Brazin, Flight Centre and Country Road.
