Myer and Shoes of Prey have been announced as finalists at the World Retail Awards.

Myer has gone into the running for the retail advertising campaign of the year for its Spring Summer 2013 advertising campaign.

The ‘Colour of Summer’ campaign was a partnership between Myer and The South African Tourism Authority, and was shot on location at the Pilansberg Reserve in South Africa. With approximately eight million Australians travelling overseas each year, the link between fashion and tourism hit a chord with the Myer customer.

Myer group general manager marketing and brand development, Megan Foster, said Myer was delighted to again be named as a finalist in the World Retail Awards, having previously won Store Design of the Year in 2011 for the redevelopment of their flagship store Myer Melbourne.

“We are delighted that the great work of the Myer team and our advertising agency, Badjar Ogilvy, has been recognised on the world stage with this award nomination. The Myer Spring Summer campaign allowed us to connect with our customers in a new and meaningful way,” she said.

Other finalists for the Retail Advertising Campaign of the Year include international retailers Aldi, Debenhams, Tesco, Tops Liquor Stores and Worten.

Meanwhile Shoes of Prey is up for store design of the year of less than 1200 square metres. The online company launched their first physical Australia store in David Jones in January.

“We are thrilled to have been named a Finalist in the World Retail Awards 2013 alongside such inspiring creative forces as Karl Lagerfeld. It was incredibly exciting to launch our first store at David Jones in January this year and it has outstripped our expectations at every turn," Shoes of Prey co-founder Jodie Fox said.

"We worked closely with the General Store to design a space that pushed beyond taking an item off a shelf, to inspire customers to create their perfect shoe. Our customers feedback and now being a finalist for this award are affirmations that the vision has been achieved."

The winners of the World Retail Awards will be announced in October at the World Retail Congress in Paris.
