Myer has appointed Peter Hay as a non-executive director of the company. He joins chairman McDonald, chief executive officer Bernie Brookes, Rupert Myer, Anne Brennan and Tom Flood on the board of the department store.

Hay, who is based in Melbourne, has extensive public company experience and is a director of the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group, Alumina, GUD Holding, and NBN. He is also chairman of the advisory board of Lazard in Australia and is a director of Melbourne’s Epworth Foundation and Landcare Australia.

He has a background in legal practice and investment banking and is a former chief executive officer of law firm Freehills, where he advised on corporate law relating to mergers and acquisitions.

Myer chairman Howard McDonald is delighted Hay is joining the board, highlighting his significant experience and knowledge.

“On behalf of the board and shareholders I welcome Peter to Myer and look forward to him making a substantial contribution in the years ahead,” he said.

“The board and I believe that Hay’s extensive experience in legal and governance matters will complement the expertise of the existing Myer board members.”
