Supermarket giant Woolworths has joined forces with Qantas, HSBC and MasterCard to bring an all-in-one combined credit and loyalty card that will enable customers to be rewarded with points.

The Woolworths Everyday Rewards Qantas credit card allows customers to earn one Qantas Frequent Flyer point per $1 spent anywhere MasterCard is accepted.

The card also serves as combined Everyday Rewards loyalty cards as well as a credit card, which means customers shopping at participating stores in the Woolworths Group have the opportunity to increase their Qantas Frequent Flyer points for the same spend.

Clare Buchanan, Woolworths group public relations manager, told Retailbiz that it was the next logical step in its Everyday Rewards loyalty offer and its alliance with Qantas Frequent Flyer.

“The Everyday Rewards program has helped increase Qantas’ Frequent Flyer membership base by more than 1 million people, so it makes perfect sense to now introduce a credit card to further expand the value of the partnership,” she said.

According to Buchanan, the Woolworths Everyday Rewards credit card is Woolworths’ second credit card product.

“Woolworths now offers many low cost or no cost alternatives to traditional banking and is committed to expanding our financial services offering to customers. Having a Frequent Flyer linked credit card will provide customers with a way to turbocharge their points earning potential,” she said.

“The card does not replace existing Woolworths credit cards, but rather is specifically designed for customers who derive value from earning Qantas Frequent Flyer points on everyday purchases.”

Customers will be able to redeem their points for Award flights to more than 700 destinations locally and internationally, or for more than 1,800 products, vouchers and experiences online at the Qantas Frequent Flyer Store.
