Mirvac Retail Centres are embracing the change of season this September, delivering Big Spring Energy, along with the chance to win a $10,000 prize.
Mirvac has partnered with one of Australia’s largest textile recyclers, RCYCL, to facilitate a big spring clean through a recycling program to collect and recycle unwanted clothing into new yarn or carpet underlay.
Mirvac general manager of retail, Kelly Miller said Big Spring Energy is about bringing everything Spring embodies into Mirvac Retail Centres in a way that energises retailers and customers alike.
“We’re bringing everything synonymous with Spring to life – the chance to reset and refresh when it comes to fashion with our RCYCL partnership, embrace something new from food to fashion, beauty or wellness, but above all, the chance to have fun for customers, and the opportunity for our retailers to showcase what they have to offer at the change of season,” she said.
“Our Centres will bring Spring to life in a variety of different ways to suit their local customer base. From styling and beauty workshops and school holiday craft, to cooking demos and masterclasses or pop-up picnics and outdoor yoga sessions, there really will be something for everyone.
“We are particularly excited to be working with RCYCL to facilitate recycling of garments that have reached the end of their wearable lifecycle. At selected centres, customers can drop off their clothes for recycling, and at Greenwood Plaza in North Sydney, we are giving customers a $20 Greenwood Plaza gift card when they donate items.
“At Mirvac, we are targeting zero waste to landfill by 2030, and this program extends our efforts even more broadly beyond minimising waste generated by our assets, to helping local communities do the same.”
RCYCL founder, Belinda Paul commented, “We love fashion, we all buy new items, now we can be responsible with the garments that do not make the cut after our wardrobe spring clean out. If items cannot be donated, what do we do with them? Working alongside Mirvac to reduce landfill is a great opportunity to educate everyone that there is a simple solution to the clothing we have at home, that would normally go in the bin.”
Mirvac Retail’s Big Spring Energy theme is being rolled out across its retail destinations in QLD, NSW, VIC and the ACT with each centre hosting a full program of events and activities. To enter the draw to win a $10,00 Big Spring Prize, Mirvac Retail Centre customers who spend $30 at any centre, go into the prize draw. The prize comprises a $5,000 travel voucher, $3,000 centre gift card and a selection of Dyson products.
