Master Lock has launched a market-first hybrid combination and key entry padlock system, offering the convenience of both a set-your-own combination and key (x2) entry, Master Lock’s Indoor Hybrid Padlock and Outdoor Hybrid Padlock provide peace of mind with a backup entry option if keys are lost or code is forgotten.
The new hybrid padlock’s combination reset function is designed for lockers, sheds, gates, doors, storage units, as well as Airbnb and holiday lease properties, or other shared use applications.
“Master Lock’s Hybrid Padlock not only allows for the user to select their favoured padlock entry mechanism, but also provides back up access if either the key or code is lost or forgotten,” Master Lock product manager, Steve Swinfield said.
“Additionally, having the dual locking system and a code that can also be reset allows access to the lock to be shared with different people over different periods of time. In practical terms, the owner can set and provide a new code to a user so that they can then access the lock for a certain period of time.
“The code can then be reset via the key or code so a different person can then access the lock, automatically removing access for the previous user. At any time, the owner of the lock can either use the key or the updated code to open the padlock.”
The Master Lock Indoor Hybrid Padlock (7641EURDBLKAU) priced at $24.90 is suited to indoor areas for usage on lockers, storage units and toolboxes, has a 40mm wide zinc body for corrosion resistance. The 6mm diameter shackle is 27mm long and made of hardened steel, offering resistance to bolt cutters.
The Master Lock Outdoor Hybrid Padlock (656EURDBLKAU) priced at $44.90 is ideal for sports equipment storage, building sites, gates, and garden/tool sheds, has a 48mm wide zinc body with protective casing for superior weather and corrosion resistance. Made of hardened steel, the 8mm diameter shackle is 25mm long and offers better resistance to cutting and sawing. Simple push button unlocking assists with access.
Increasing security further are the padlock’s four dial re-settable combination which offers over 10,000 possible combinations and dual locking levers which resist pulling and prying. The Master Lock Outdoor Hybrid Padlock also features a five-pin cylinder for maximum pick resistance.
