Australian fashion stationery label kikki.K has been nominated for the Retail Innovation Award at the World Retail Awards.

Nominated by the Worth Global Style Network (WGSN), WGSN managing director Asia Pacific Julie Harris says the nomination is well deserved.

“kikki.K’s nomination for a World Retail Congress Oracle Award positions them amongst the finest and most innovative retailers in the world,” she says.

The Australian owned Swedish design label was founded by Swedish born Kristina Karlsson in Melbourne in 2001. The store quickly earned a cult following among the fashion and design conscious for its distinctly Swedish designer stationery and accessories, uniquely released seasonally on the fashion calendar.

Karlsson says the nomination highlights the opportunity for further international expansion.

“This nomination confirms our relevance on the world retail scene, and the endless possibilities ahead of us,” she says.

“It’s always been my dream to open kikki.K boutiques in my favourite cities around the world… this takes us one step closer. Our vision has always been to be a ‘world class business in every sense’, so receiving this nomination is truly rewarding for our entire team.”

In December, Karlsson opened the first White by kikki.K concept store in Sydney’s Strand Arcade. The unique brand extension offers an all-white colour palette of existing kikki.K products, and limited edition collections redesigned in white exclusively for the store.

Today over 40 privately owned kikki.K boutiques are located across Australia, New Zealand, and most recently on Singapore’s famed Orchard Road.

The World Retail Awards are judged by a panel of industry experts and will be presented in Berlin in April. Previous winners include Apple, Nike and Saks Fifth Avenue.
