Industry experts will be gathering on Tuesday 5 April to debate about the impact of the online exploitation of GST is having on the Australian retail sector.

The Retail Breakfast Seminar Series is a joint initiative of Wollongong University’s Sydney Business School and the National Retail Association.

NRA executive director Gary Black said it will provide a forum for industry leaders to discuss the major issues faced by the sector.

“At this first seminar in the series we will examine the impact of the current tax and customs regime on Australian retailers,” he said.

“By working together I believe Australia’s retailers big and small can achieve the policy changes necessary to create a level playing field. This seminar series will provide a key platform for us to pursue this goal.”

Black will facilitate the discussion with expert panellists including Sydney Business School senior lecturer Phil Scott; Connor Anderson International and Fellow of the Customs director Bob Fraser, American Express client management retail vice president Fady Daher; and Citi Investment Research and Chartered Financial Analyst director of consumer research Craig Woolford.
