International fashion retailer Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) will be launching a new store at Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City on 29 August.

Joondalup will be the site of the first Perth H&M store opening. Spanning 2,200 square metres and set over two levels the store will be housed in Perth’s largest shopping destination.

"We are delighted that H&M, one of the world’s largest fashion retailers, has chosen Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City for the location of their first Western Australian store,” says Gary Horwitz, head of retail for Lendlease in Australia. “The opening reinforces Lakeside Joondalup as Perth’s largest shopping centre destination.

The much anticipated store will showcase apparel, underwear and accessories for men, women, kids and baby.

“We are excited to be able to announce our further expansion in the Australian market with our new store launching at Joondalup Shopping Centre on the 29 August,” says Hans Andersson, Australian country manager for H&M. “We have always seen Western Australia as an important market and we are looking forward to finally introducing the H&M brand to Perth and showing our customers the retail experience our brand has to offer.”

The fashion giant has also confirmed it will launch its first store beyond Melbourne’s CBD in Eastland as part of its $665 million transformation later this year.

“The Eastland development will increase the size of the centre by approximately 48,000 square metres, creating one of Melbourne’s most progressive and exciting urban communities,” says Steve Edgerton, centre manager of the new Eastland.

“H&M’s arrival at Eastland demonstrates the strength of the development and the interest it’s attracting from global retail brands.”

Once completed, Eastland’s transformation will offer 131,000sqm of retail space and more than 350 speciality stores.

“It will be more than just a place to shop. It will be a world-class destination where people can enjoy premium personalised services such as valet, concierge, dining, entertainment and social experiences,” Edgerton says.

H&M will launch alongside some of the most exciting names in international and Australian fashion, with further partners to be announced in the coming weeks.

Stage one of the development will launch in late 2015, with stage two due for completion in mid-2016.
