Owner of Zara, The Inditex Group, has increased its net sales by 14 per cent to 5,255 million euros in the first half of 2010.

The Group opened 173 stores in 37 different stores in the first half, brining its worldwide total to 4,780 stores in 77 countries at 31 July 2010.

In line with Inditex’s international growth strategy, the expansion of the Asian store base during the first half drove growth in the contribution of total store sales by Asia to 15 per cent. The contribution by the other areas was: Europe, 45 per cent; Spain, 28 per cent; and the Americas, 12 per cent.

Earlier this month, the company confirmed that it will be opening up its first Australian store in Westfield Sydney next year.
