Bookings are now open for Funlab’s annual Day of Fun, held on September 5 this year, which sees activities across Funlab’s popular venues reduced to a flat rate of $5 with proceeds going to national youth mental health organisation, headspace.
Holey Moley, Hijinx Hotel, Strike Bowling and Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq are some of the 44 venues Australian-wide with discounted activities in a bid to raise $300,000 – the largest fundraising goal yet after a successful 2022. By achieving this goal, Funlab will have raised over $1 million for headspace since 2016. Proceeds from the day go towards participating headspace centres as well as headspace’s online communities, a real-time peer-led group chat service held by young people, for young people.
Peer support moderators from across Australia are trained to provide support and online moderation on topics including navigating relationships, coping with tough times, work and study and supporting LGBTQIA+ young people. In the past year, online communities were usedmore than 110,000 times and ran 153 peer chats on said topics.
With some activities discounted more than 90% on the day, Day of Fun provides the opportunity to have fun, try a new activity, and raise money for charity.
Funlab CEO, Michael Schreiber said Funlab wants to bring back the ‘fun’ in fundraising to achieve their biggest goal yet and, as a result, hopefully hit the $1 million milestone. “To raise over $1 million would be a momentous achievement, a testament to the dedication of Australians who’ve contributed over the past seven years, and a reflection of the unwavering commitment of the Funlab team to reach this milestone,” he said.
“We want to encourage everyone to jump online and book an activity slot at their local Funlab for $5, or come down on the day, and get involved. This is an opportunity for us to not only raise funds for a very important charity, but to support youth mental health, while providing a fun experience for friends and families.”
headspace CEO, Jason Trethowan said Day of Fun is one of the charity’s largest fundraising events of the year and each year continues to exceed expectations. “headspace knows connecting with others and making time for the things you enjoy are important steps for maintaining good mental health. Day of Fun is a terrific opportunity to do just that while also raising funds to support vital youth mental health programs here at headspace,” he said.
“The $1 million dollars Funlab will have raised for headspace over the past seven years helps make it possible for headspace to provide mental health support to young people, when and where they need it most.”
Pre-booking is essential to secure an activity on September 5, while Archie Brothers and B.Lucky & Sons are available for walk-ins only.
