Online shopping destination eBay Australia and New Zealand has appointed JJ Eastwood as head of advertising.

Reporting direct to David Odgers, sales and marketing director for the company, Eastwood will be responsible for growing eBay’s position as an online publisher where it helps advertisers target consumers shopping online.

Eastwood said he is excited be part of an opportunity where the company is in a stage of evolution.

“With eBay's vast wealth of consumer data they can offer advertisers unique targeting capabilities, audience insights and the opportunity to communicate with consumers while they are shopping,” he said.

Eastwood brings nearly 15 years’ experience in sales and marketing, including positions at Fairfax Digital and News Corp. Most recently, Eastwood was the specialist sales director at ninemsn where he developed and led the company’s commercial strategies for advertising products.
Over the years, eBay has become a fertile environment for advertisers with more than six million Australians using the site to research and purchase products.

It currently offers geoTribes, a geo-demographic segmentation system based on consumers’ lifecycle stage and social rank. It can be used to measure age, family structure, education, employment and income, which enable flexible targeting of campaigns.

eBay also launched earlier this year, the cost per engagement (CPE) video model, helping companies better measure their return on investment.
