Expected to open later this month, stage one of Westfield Sydney’s $1.2 billion development will not only unveil consumer retail stores but also food outlets.

Eight food outlets will open on level five forming The Sydney Room, including Michael Moore’s Eat, Deli Kitch, Justin North’s Charlie & Co., John Susman’s Cloudy Bay Fish Company, Crust Pizza and Guzman y Gomez.

Sky Phoenix on level six, which has been rebuilt and redesigned with a capacity to seat 400 diners will also be opening its doors.

Rachele Godridge, Westfield project centre manager told Retailbiz that the food retailers of Westfield Sydney will bring a new dining experience to the city.

“Westfield Sydney will unlock the heart of Sydney’s CBD by bringing an all encompassing luxury retail experience unlike any other in Australia,” she said.

“Whether it’s ducking away from the desk for a New York-style deli sandwich from chef Michael Moore’s Eat, Deli Kitchen, a burger from Justin North’s Charlie & Co., or indulging in a full dining experience at Sky Phoenix, these world-class food retailers will bring a touch of the unexpected into the retail environment.”

In the second quarter of 201, two contemporary Asian restaurants – Sassy’s Red and Chat Thai – will be operation with others to be announced shortly.

The retail precinct will encompass 40,000 square metres of gross lettable area, which on completion in 2012 will mean the centre will house over 250 fashion, food and lifestyle stores.
