After 10 years with the company, Matthew Sherwood has been appointed managing director of store solutions provider DigiPoS.

He told Retailbiz that he will continue to lead the company in the retail sector but also hopes to extend the company’s service outside the retail realm.

“In the first instance, we’re just continuing doing what we have been doing,” Sherwood said.

“There are also new products coming into our range in the next 12 to18 months that will help further see opportunities both in retail and also outside retail.”

But Sherwood reassured that despite this potential expansion, the company’s core business will always be retail.

“We have a few opportunities that are now presenting themselves that are not in the retail focus and we’re definitely taking up on those, but our core focus will definitely always be retail.”

According to Sherwood, DigiPoS will continue to target tier two retailers, particularly with new competition “springing up around the corner”.

Some of its most recent customers in the last 12 to 18 months include My Chemist, Cue clothing and the Pretty Girl Fashion group.

“Tier two retailers tend to be our sweet spot,” Sherwood said. “We recently looked at our top 50 customers in relation to the top 50 customers we had last year. The good thing is in the list of our top 20, we had four new customers join and it’s because we’ve been proactive and getting our customers.”
