Historically, in the Australian market Clarks has been known to be a children’s footwear specialist.

However, the UK brand has brought the Clarks Adult store to Australia for the first time, opening at three locations – Westfield Parramatta, Kotara and Penrith.

Richard Bycroft, Clarks Adult head of retail footwear, told Retailbiz that Clarks has always been a successful brand in the adults and children international shoe market and wanted to bring it to Australia.

“We have always had a market leading children’s footwear business in Australia, introducing the adult product is a natural progression from this and fills a significant gap in the market with a high quality, well designed product at a competitive price point,” he said.

The new stores will specialise in providing design with complete podiatry comfort.

“Every pair of Clarks shoes is backed by great design and product quality. Our global scale means that we can offer this great design and quality at a price point that offers market leading value to our customers,” Bycroft said.

“Couple this with a well designed store environment and highly trained staff means that our overall customer experience stands tall above the competition.”

According to Bycroft, further store openings will be investigated.

“There may well be other opportunities for the Clarks retail offer which we will investigate in due course.”
