A 14-year-old boy has been charged with causing a fire in a store at the Royal Randwick Shopping Centre yesterday.
With thick white smoke coming from the Food For Less shop, fire brigades were called to the shopping centre early yesterday morning.
Causing more than $1 million damage and forcing the evacuation of 2500 people, police said today it will be alleged that the fire was deliberately lit after detectives arrested the boy at his home last night.
They searched his home and a number of items were seized for examination.
The teenager was charged with damaging property by fire and will appear in Bidura Childrens Court today.
