Set of gluten free products. Grains and beans

Grocery giant Woolworths has partnered with a UK tech start-up to launch a new technology which helps shoppers find foods which meet their dietary requirements.

The technology directs shoppers to foods which meet their dietary needs, whether it’s gluten free, vegan or nut or other allergies.

Woolworths last week announced the partnership with Spoon Guru to launch the technology on its online shopping platform.

Online shoppers will be able to filter their food searches to include specific dietary attributes from allergies and intolerances, such as milk or tree nuts, to individual dietary requirements, such as vegan, vegetarian and healthy choices such as low saturated fat or high fibre.

The technology uses AI, algorithms and human expertise to make products easier for consumers to find.

Leading supermarket Tesco has been using the app since November 2017 and has seen a massive 500 per cent increase in conversion since it was introduced.
