Parcel delivery service, CouriersPlease (CP) has promoted Victorian state manager, Paul Roper to the newly created role of chief commercial officer to oversee the merge of the sales and marketing team and further align outputs to create more cohesion.

Roper will be responsible for supporting revenue generation across all channels within the company as well as supporting key customer acquisition nationally. He will work closely with the sales team to develop attractive products and services to bring to market and drive marketing strategies. Currently, he is leading his team in working on an after-hours point-to-point delivery, that enables consumers to receive twilight or weekend delivery, which will launch before July.

Before being appointed to his new role, Roper was state manager for three years. He has gained 25 years’ experience in logistics and transportation across major global organisations, with expertise in sales management, global business development, and designing efficient supply chain models.

In his 19 years at DHL Express, Roper spent 13 years overseas, with postings in New Zealand, Fiji, Malaysia and Singapore – holding various roles including national sales manager, general manager South Pacific as well as global multinational customer director South Asia.

Prior to his tenure with DHL Express, Roper was network manager of global operations at Toll and international general manager at TNT Express.

“I am thrilled to step into the new role at CP to oversee structural changes and enhancements over the coming months,” Roper said.

“I have a keen interest in exploring and investigating digital marketing strategies and understanding how technology can play a role in improving specific commercial areas. We will continue to challenge ourselves and the way we can improve and innovate our services and offerings for consumers and businesses. I’m looking forward to delivering many new initiatives in the months ahead.”

CP CEO, Mark McGinley added, “We are very proud to have Paul as our first chief commercial officer to lead CP as we undergo our digital transformation. Paul has a wealth of knowledge and experience from his longstanding career in this industry, and we are looking forward to him leading the team as we continue to expand.

“In the short time Paul has been in this role, we have already seen him deliver strong results – signing off major customers this month and the huge success we are having on our returns solution, Boomerang. We are excited about the future of CP and the strong team we have to execute this.”
