Hardware giant Bunnings has taken out the title of most visited Australian online retailer despite not yet launching a fully-functioning online website.

Australian shoppers have proven themselves crazy for hardware, with 40 million people visiting Bunnings’ website despite the retailer not having yet launched its online store.

The retailer toppled JB Hi-Fi, Kogan and Woolworths on website views in the first quarter of 2019, well ahead of other retailers with 41.2 million visits, according to a study from CupONation.

Taking out second place, grocery giant Woolworths paled in comparison at 33.7 million visits

Meanwhile, JB-Hi-Fi came in third at less than 30 million visits and Coles fourth with just over 20 million visits.

The news comes a month after Bunnings announced plans to launch an e-store next year, which will see it sell 60,000 products online.

But Bunnings is already making inroads in the online space, with the majority of the site’s online visitors coming from mobile at 26 million, while the other 14 million came through desktop.

The news comes after three years of strong growth for the retailer.
