Autoleague, one of Australia’s largest automotive retail groups, has strengthened its cybersecurity and remote access systems through the deployment of BeyondTrust’s Privileged Access Management (PAM) and Privileged Remote Access (PRA) solutions.
The company, which operates more than 60 franchises nationwide and generates around $3 billion in annual revenue, relies on an extensive IT platform to support operations ranging from stock management and parts inventories to administration and customer support.
The system also supports a back-office team based in Sri Lanka that requires secure access to Australian-based IT resources.
“We needed a way to separate admin logins from daily logins to reduce the likelihood of unauthorised access to the IT platform,” said Ian Melton, Head of Information Technology at Autoleague.
“We also recognised that persistent passwords are regarded as a security risk and needed to be removed from use.”
After evaluating several options, Autoleague adopted BeyondTrust’s PAM platform in 2022. The solution introduced automatic password rotation and secure credential vaulting, eliminating the need for manual password management and improving overall protection.
The company also implemented BeyondTrust’s PRA to enable secure connections for its Sri Lankan support team, which operates from a shared internet environment. The system allows staff to access Australian resources safely from the office or home.
Autoleague has also used PRA during acquisitions to securely connect with other company networks while preventing the risk of malware or other cyber threats.
“We were looking for a vendor who could cover our requirements for both Privileged Access Management (PAM) and Privileged Remote Access (PRA) capabilities, and BeyondTrust has industry-leading products in both categories,” said Melton.
“The result is that we can offer support to our national network of franchisees who can meet their client’s needs.”
