Leading Australian fashion retailer Seed has taken on new software as part of a broader strategy to scale internationally.

The retailer, which has more than 500 stores across Australia and 2,000 employees, will be rolling out the Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform with DXC Technology’s Eclipse in a bid to expand outside of Australia and into other markets.

The platform will provide a centralised view of each customer irrespective of the channel they choose to interact with the business, whilst also enabling customer engagement to be personalised.

As the retailer scales internationally, the Dynamics 365 platform will integrate across all departments throughout the business – enabling a consistent platform to be rolled out across the business.

Martin Wildsmith, director of DXC Eclipse, who will be implementing the platform at Seed, told Retailbiz that the platform does everything end to end from POS, merchandising, payment methods and right down to the core financials of business.

“These solutions are all about digital transitions, enabling multiple ways for customers to transact, providing a deeper understanding of the customer and robust platform so we can change the way we interact with customers going forward into the future,” he said.

The platform will enable Seed to scale quickly, whilst also ensuring the retailer has a consistent and reliable platform in all of its outlets, Mr Wildsmith said.

“If you’ve got one platform that can turn on overnight a different store in France and launch in Europe or Germany or Hong Kong, you’ve got far more robustness about scaling up your business,” he said.

Anthony Cronwright, manager, strategic projects and business improvement, Brandbank, said that the announcement will help to streamline Seed’s expansion.

“At Seed Heritage, we plan to expand the business both locally and internationally. To achieve that, we needed a system that would provide a streamlined, integrated approach and would deliver a single view of the customer,” he said.

“We chose to partner with DXC Eclipse because of its proven experience and track record of successful projects in the retail space. DXC Eclipse’s fashion retail expertise was a critical deciding factor.”
