Consumer spending online on books, stationery, and multimedia rose 19.3 per cent year over year to $2.2 billion in 2024, according to Australia Post.

In its eCommerce Report 2025, the postal and courier service provider said that Millennials spent the highest on the category, amounting to $690 million, up 19.5 per cent from a year ago.

Gen X spending climbed 13.8 per cent to $622 million while Baby Boomers spending increased 16.5 per cent to $379 million. Builders spending surged 37.5 per cent to $185 million.

Amazon emerged as the most preferred online shopping site by the majority of Gen Zs and Millennials.

Meanwhile, the majority of Gen X, Baby Boomers, and Builders prefer eBay.
