Instagram Australia will host a world-first in-app shopping event, InstaNight Shopping, to support major Australian retailers, household brands and small business and to celebrate the launch of its Shop tab.

Kicking off at 6pm tomorrow (Thursday 3 December), the shopping event will feature exclusive sales and one-night-only product drops from leading Australian brands. This includes unique product drops such as a limited sneaker release from Culture Kings, $10 off all purchases over $49 for new Afterpay customers and gift with purchase such as a bonus Dermalogica Micro Pore Mist 10ml from Adore Beauty.

Participating brands include Activated Eco, Aveda, BANGN BODY, Bed Threads, City Beach, David Jones, French Connection, HiSmile, JD Sports, M.A.C, Nespresso, Oroton, Platypus and many more.

Instagram’s dedicated Shop tab enables consumers to discover trends and purchase directly from their favourite brands all in one place, while featuring personalised recommendations, fresh product collections, editor’s picks and more. The redesigned navigation bar will give Instagram users access to both local and global brands.

Facebook Australia group industry director, Naomi Shepherd said InstaNight Shopping aims to re-energise the holiday sales season by providing consumers with a convenient and safe way to shop.

“The events of this year have changed the way we shop, and for many Australians the traditional shopping experience has evolved to fit safely into the palm of their hand. 80% of Australians say they’ve made the decision to purchase a product on Instagram, so we’re launching the new Instagram Shop tab as a dedicated place for our community to connect with the brands they love, and discover new items and businesses.

“To celebrate this new feature, and to support the many Aussie businesses who’ve had a challenging year, we’re thrilled to bring the first-ever InstaNight Shopping event to Instagram, which will highlight over 50 local brands, and for many businesses right now, we know that every sale counts.”

New data from Instagram has revealed that 83% of Australians have discovered new products on Instagram, 80% have made decisions to purchase products on Instagram and the number of people viewing products on Instagram has increased 60% in Australia year-on-year.

Instagram also recently introduced the Reels tab – a dedicated space to enjoy short-form video content and discover new Reels creators. It is designed as a space for people to share their creativity and find an audience.
