Selma Mehmedovic is a research consultant of Australian Centre for Retail Studies who will present consumer preferences for the store of the future and outlike key global retail trends.
RB: Briefly (in one or two points) explain what you'll be speaking about at the Conference?
SM: While recent attention has focused on emerging channels such as online and mobile, the store remains remains an integral part of the the retailing mix. Selma and Jason will explore how the store is evolving in line with the omni-channel context, as well as share global and Australian best practice case studies.
RB: Why do you believe this/these topic(s) are important and relevant to retailers?
SM:Given recent debates centered around online retailing and the entrance of international retailers, now is the perfect time to take a step back to evaluate the role of the physical store, which provides a unique opportunity to engage shopper's through interaction, a key advantage of bricks and mortar.
RB: Can you provide comment about the current state of the Australian retail sector and ONE tip you'd give to retailers.
SM: Australian retailing is divided at the moment with some retailers struggling and others performing exceptionally well. Those that are succeeding are doing so because they are listening to their customers and innovating to ensure each interaction is a memorable one for the customer.
